Tutorial / Workshop – Update 1

Acid Base – Stewart approach (Rainer Gatz/Dr Andrew Thorniley/Dr Paul Elbers)

Dear participants in the acid-base workshop!

In order to promote discussion and personal gain from our workshop, we should like to invite you to contribute with some of your own experiences in the area of acid-base disturbances. Please do bring any data and case descriptions where you think the case is remarkable or even is unresolved.

For a Stewart- based acid-base-analysis, or, indeed, any detailed analysis, we need minimally data on pH, serum-Na, serum-Cl, albumin, PCO2. Additionally, values for serum-K, serum-Ca (ideally the total value), serum-Mg, lactate, phosphate, haemoglobin and base excess will allow for a much more detailed analysis.

Please do also provide basic clinical information.

We do invite you to take a look around the website that Paul and Rainer maintain: http://www.acid-base.org
